A new LAC board was elected at the XX session of the Lithuanian-American Community Council held in Atlanta, GA on September 28-29, 2012. For the first time in LAC’s history, LAC will be led by a representative of the newest wave of emigration. Sigita Simkuviene-Rosen (first row, third from left) came to the United States 11 years ago and now lives in New Haven, CT. Elected by majority vote, the newly elected President, S. Simkuviene-Rosen, previously served as Vice President of Organizational Affairs. The President of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, Irena Degutiene, sent a congratulatory note to Simkuviene-Rosen. The session was also attended by the Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania, Arvydas Daunoravicius, the Ambassador of Lithuania to the United States, Žygimantas Pavilionis, and the Consul General in New York, Valdemaras Sarapinas.
