- Summer youth camps are a Lithuanian-American Tradition that appears to be growing.
Wonderful programs and experienced counselors make Lithuanian summer
camps an exciting cultural experience for children.
Lithuanian-language and English-language "heritage" progams
are available at Camp Dainava, Camp Rakas and Camp Neringa.

- Lithuania
- Cody Clanton is currently a seventh grade student at Graves Jr High in Summit,Illinois.
He lives with his parents (whose ancestry is German) and sister in Summit, Illinois.
Cody's report on Lithuania was prepared as a sixth grade project while he was attending
Walsh Elementary School. This project- which was presented orally as well as in writing -
earned Cody an "A" for the semester.

- Lithuanian Schools are planning their fall sessions now. Find the school in your
town and register for the 2001 - 2002 school year.
- LELE Puppet Theater of Vilnius
- The Lithuanian-American Community of Houston (LACH)
and LELE Puppet Theater of Vilnius, Lithuania
hosted LELE's US premiere and
tour of repertory theaters in the southeast Texas area in July, 1999.
- Lithuanian Scouts summer camping
- Lithuanian Scouts have a rich tradition of summer camping
in the United States and Canada. In 2001, scouts are participating in Regional camps in
"Rambynas" on the West Coast, "Rakas" in the Midwest,
"Romuva" in Canada and at Camp Resolute in the Atlantic Region.

The Education Council of the Lithuanian American Community, Inc. supports Lithuanian
Heritage and Language Schools. Register for Lithuanian classes in our schools in the following states:
California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Maryland,
Massachusets, Michigan, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C.

Summer camping is a long-standing tradition for Lithuanian Americans. Camps have
a range of themes and setting, from "family" camps to folk dance seminars.
Some are entirely in Lithuanian language while the popular "heritage"
camps are English language. |
